Judge threatens birther lawyer with $10,000 fine

After telling her not to file more frivolous lawsuits, she files another angry motion.  He gives her 14 days to show why he should not fine her $10,000.

‘Bout time.

Birther Fail: Judge ready to slap Orly Taitz with $10,000 fine

Earlier this week, Land dismissed a suit that Taitz had brought on behalf of Army Capt. Connie Rhodes, a surgeon who claimed that she couldn’t follow her orders to deploy to Iraq because she’s not sure President Obama is eligible, under the Constitution, to hold his current position. At the time, Land warned Taitz that if she filed any more “similarly frivolous … actions in this Court” she’d face sanctions.

Taitz, of course, didn’t seem to listen. Instead, she filed an angry motion asking Land to reconsider his decision and stay Rhodes’ deployment

In an order issued Friday, Land denied Taitz’s request and announced that he was considering making good on his threat of sanctions. He ordered the attorney-slash-dentist “to show cause why the Court should not impose a monetary penalty of $10,000.00 upon Plaintiff’s counsel for her misconduct,” and gave her 14 days to do so.

Judge Tosses ‘Frivolous’ Birther Lawsuit

Peeved judge tells Orly Taitz not to waste his time with any similar suits

(Newser Summary) – Leading “birther” Orly Taitz had a lawsuit chucked out of court yesterday and the judge threatened her with sanctions if she brings another “frivolous” suit to the same court, the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports. Taitz—representing a soldier seeking to avoid deployment to Iraq by challenging President Obama’s legitimacy—”presented no credible evidence,” Judge Clay Land wrote in a withering judgment, but instead “uses her complaint as a platform for spouting political rhetoric, such as her claims that the president is ‘an illegal usurper.’”

“Unlike in Alice in Wonderland, simply saying something is so does not make it so,” Land, a Bush appointee, wrote, observing that a high school civics student could spot the irony in Taitz’s claimsRead more at www.newser.com

In South, less than half believe Obama born in USA

Yet 90% know it true in the Midwest and NE. Why the difference?

New Poll: Less Than Half Of Republicans Believe Obama Was Born In U.S.

Only 42 percent of Republican respondents in a Research 2000 survey, conducted for the liberal website Daily Kos, said they thought Obama was a natural born citizen; 28 percent said they did not believe Obama was born in the United States; 30 percent said they were not sure.

That only a plurality of Republicans were willing to acknowledge the president was born in America is nothing short of astounding, considering the preponderance of evidence that confirms his Hawaiian birth.

The conspiracy has a regional flavor. Overall, even including Democrats and independents, only 47 percent of respondents in the South said they believed Obama was born in America, with 23 percent saying he was not and 30 percent saying they were unsure. In the Northeast and Midwest, the percentage of respondents who believe Obama was born in the U.S. was over 90 percent.

Matthews to birther: “You’re advancing the whacko wing of your party!”

’bout time.

Amplifyd from thinkprogress.org
Chris Matthews interviewed Rep. John Campbell (R-CA), co-sponsor of a bill that would require candidates for president
to present a
birth certificate
“The proposal is not crazy,” Campbell said
“Congressman, nice try,” Matthews replied. “What you’re doing is appeasing the nutcases…you’re verifying the paranoia out there,”
Matthews then held up a copy of Obama’s birth certificate and said, “That’s the way to deal with this, mail this birth certificate to the whacko wing
Matthews asked Campbell seven times if he believes Obama is a natural born U.S. citizen
Campbell finally answered, “As far as I know, Yes.” “As far as you know? I’m showing you his birth certificate!”
What more do you want? I mean, I’m serious, you say “as far as you know?” You are playing to the crazies

“Was he born in this country?” Matthews asked again. “Yes, I believe so,” Campbell replied. “Ok, finally we’re making progress,” Matthews said. Watch it:
